Host a holiday wrapping party

The cookies are baked. The tree is trimmed. The shopping is done. Now all that’s left between you and the holidays is a HUGE pile of gifts.

It’s time you had some fun with your holiday chores! Get the girls, your gifts and some Christmas goodies together and wrap up your to-do list with an easy-to-plan gift-wrapping party. Here’s how to pull it off:

Prepare to party

The holidays are stressful enough, so keep things simple with email invites and an “open house” timetable (“Come any time between 1 and 5 p.m.”). Keep the guest list to five or six friends so that everyone has enough space to spread out their paper and packages.

Connect with your Thirty-One Consultant to host a pre-party with your guests to stock up on reusable bags and pouches in time for wrapping day, like Cinch Sacs for kids’ gifts and nochebuena or night-before-Christmas bags, Felt Hanging Bins and Dreamkeeper Mini Bins for smaller items and jewelry, our annual favourite Littles Carry-All™ Caddies in a variety of festive prints – and don’t forget to pick up a few personalized Felt Wine & Gift Bags!

Gather supplies

Be sure to have enough paper to wrap every gift. Encourage guests to bring along one roll to share and any add-ons like tags, ribbon and bows.

At the party, you can provide wrapping necessities for each guest, including tape, scissors, pens, tissue paper and twine.

You can also have fun with gift “toppers” like holiday flowers and greenery, ornaments, candies and other stocking stuffers. (How about a personalized Photo Key Fob as a gift tag?)

Set the scene

The day of the party set up a few “wrapping stations” around the house – like one at the kitchen island, one in the living room, one in the dining room – with supplies so everyone has enough space to work. (Remember to provide a designated space for trash and recycling.)

Get your guests in the holiday spirit with your favourite tunes! Prepare a playlist ahead of time or break out that classic holiday album collection. Ask guests to bring along a favourite CD or two.

You’ll be working up an appetite with all of that wrapping! Offer up some seasonal sweets and sips like a hot cocoa bar. You could even pump up your party with a cookie exchange: Have each guest bring along a dozen of their favourites to enjoy now with enough to take home later.

Once every last package has been wrapped, remember to label the gifts so you and your guests can tell them apart. Then sit back with a warm drink and revel in a job well done!
