"This bag gives me pride. My books used to get wet from the dew that collects in the tall grass along the paths to school, but that is no longer the case now that I have this bag."

In a remote village in Zambia, girls begin to drop out of school around the fifth grade. According to World Vision, some of the girls have to walk too far for water, with no time for classes. Some must stay home to care for younger brothers and sisters. Still others are forced into child marriage.

But thanks to World Vision and Thirty-One Gifts, the girls in this community have an incentive to stay in school: Thirty-One Gifts totes. Girls like Irene and Nelia use the donated totes to carry their supplies to school, encouraging them to continue their education.

World Vision is helping their school in other ways, too, with supplies like clean water and a curriculum to help increase attendance, health and literacy.

“Previously, my books used to get wet or lost, but with this bag, they are now safe,” Nelia says.

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization with a mission dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
